      • Went to Tune Up Plus for an alignment. Told them I had come for an alignment, and the took my car keys. They put the car on the rack and immediately said they could not align the car as it needed ball joints replaced, and promptly charged my credit card $77 for a 'computer diagnostic' that consisted of the mechanic wiggling the tires back and forth a few times, even though they had never asked me if I wanted any 'diagnostic' work done, and had never asked me to sign anything giving my consent to do any work at all. They also said I had a busted engine mount, when I had just had that engine mount replaced less than a week earlier. I told the owner of Tune Up Plus, a man from Trinity, that I was going to have the ball joints looked at and replaced, if necessary, elsewhere. He told me that since they couldn't align my wheels, to go have the ball joints replaced at my own mechanic, and when that was done I could bring the car back to have the alignment done for free, since they had already charged me the amount it costs for an alignment at his shop. I had the ball joints replaced at another shop, and went back to Tune Up Plus for the alignment they had promised me. I was then told that they would not do the alignment for me, and that for me to have had the alignment done for free I would have had to have the ball joint work done at their shop. This was not what I was told when they charged my credit card, and this was witnessed by my wife, who was present in the shop with me when the owner made his promise to align my car when I brought it back after having the ball joints done elsewhere. The engine mount, by the way, was (and is) still in place, not 'busted' as they had told me, and was just one more thing the ripoff artists at Miller's Tune Up Plus tried to get me to have them work on. If I could rate this shop in negative numbers I would (bduares, 08/24/2009)
